Chitosan is derived from chitin and is a natural, non-digestible fibre – what is known as a biopolymer.

It can bind up to 5 times its own mass of fat in the bowel in order to excrete it undigested and thus regulate fat absorption from food. This can have a positive effect on the formation of cholesterol as well as blood pressure.

Industry has long recognised the properties of Chitosan. In environmental technology, for example, Chitosan is currently used to purify waste water.
